Privacy Policy

NaboTV is built to be private by design. We collect only what we need to run the service, we do not sell your data, and we do not show ads. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the controls you have.

Who we are

NaboTV is a product of WatchBetter, Inc. ("WatchBetter", "we", "us"), which operates the NaboTV service, a unified home for your streaming subscriptions and your personal media library. "NaboTV" is a trade name of WatchBetter, Inc. Information we collect

• Account details. Your email address and a securely hashed password. Your display name and the profiles you create.
• Your activity in the app. Watch progress and history, ratings and reviews, watchlists and other lists, preferences (language, content rating, home layout), and "not interested" choices, so your experience syncs across your devices.
• Connected sources. When you connect a personal media server (Plex, Emby, or Jellyfin) we store the connection details needed to reach it and read your library. We never proxy or copy your media through our servers.
• Imported viewing history. If you choose to import your viewing history (for example, a Netflix history export) or connect an account like Trakt, we store the titles and watch dates you bring in so they appear in your history and Continue Watching. Importing is optional and initiated by you.
• Devices. Devices you pair to your account, so you can cast and manage them.
• Location. If you choose to set a location for local weather on the ambient and screensaver screens, we store the postal code you provide or select. We do not collect your device's GPS coordinates, and this is optional.
• Friends and messages. If you add friends, we store your connections and the recommendations and messages you send each other, so they can be delivered and shown in the app. You can block any user, or report a user or a published collection, at any time.
• Security logs. A limited audit trail of key actions (sign-in, playback, account changes) with a timestamp and originating IP address, kept to protect your account and the service. These logs are automatically deleted after a retention period.

How we use your information

• To operate core features: unifying your libraries, tracking what you've watched, syncing your preferences, and recommending titles you can actually watch.
• To secure your account and detect abuse.
• To communicate with you about the service (for example, account or security notices), and, if you opt in, occasional product updates you can unsubscribe from at any time.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with similar laws, we rely on the following legal bases to process your personal data:

• Performance of our contract with you: creating and running your account, unifying your libraries, syncing your profiles and preferences, and providing the features you use.
• Our legitimate interests: keeping the service secure, detecting and preventing abuse, and maintaining a limited security/audit log, balanced against your rights.
• Your consent: optional actions you initiate, such as connecting a personal media server or a Trakt account, importing a viewing history, or receiving optional product emails. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing.
• Legal obligations: where we must retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.

Third-party services

To provide catalog data and features, NaboTV uses these providers. Where we send requests to them, we send only what's needed to fulfil the feature (for example, a title identifier), not your identity.

• The Movie Database (TMDB), catalog metadata, artwork, and cast/crew. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
• Movie of the Night (Streaming Availability API), where titles are available to stream.
• Trakt, community ratings, and, if you connect your Trakt account, two-way sync of your watch history and watchlist.
• OpenSubtitles and automatic subtitle generation, when you turn on subtitles for personal media that has none, we fetch matching subtitles from OpenSubtitles and, if none exist, generate them with speech recognition. Generation sends only the title's audio to an external GPU transcription service; the audio is used only to produce the subtitle text and is not stored or associated with your identity.
• Open Trivia Database, questions for the optional trivia feature.
• Your connected media servers (Plex/Emby/Jellyfin), read directly to show your personal library.

How your information is stored and protected

Your data is stored on our managed servers. Passwords are hashed, and credentials for connected sources are protected. Access is limited to operating the service.

Cookies and local storage

NaboTV does not use advertising or analytics tracking cookies, and we do not embed third-party trackers or pixels. On the web, we store only what is strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your active profile and device (for example, your session token and account, profile, and device identifiers). This information stays on your device and is not used to track you across other sites. YouTube previews, when shown, use the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie mode.

Where your information is processed

NaboTV is operated from the United States, and our servers are located there. If you access NaboTV from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your country. By using NaboTV you understand that your information is handled as described in this policy.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Security/audit logs are pruned automatically after a fixed retention window. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed as described below.

Your rights and choices

You control your information, and we provide tools in the app for the most common requests:

• Access / portability. Export a copy of your data from the app (Settings → Account → Export my data).
• Deletion / erasure. Permanently delete your account and associated personal data from the app (Settings → Account → Delete account). This cannot be undone.
• Correction / rectification. Edit your profile and preferences at any time.
• Marketing opt-out. Unsubscribe from any product email using the link in that email.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to restrict or object to certain processing, to withdraw consent, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights, under laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA. To exercise any right not covered by the in-app tools above, contact [email protected], and we will respond as required by applicable law.

If you are in the EEA or the UK and believe we have not handled your data properly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first, so please consider contacting us before you do.

Children

NaboTV is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Kids profiles created by an account holder are managed by that adult.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above, and where appropriate we'll notify you in the app.
